SENIOR (2017): Ended her four-year career as the program leader in kills with 1,347 … Finished fourth in program history with 1,229 career digs … Only the fourth player in program history to eclipse both the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs marks … Finished with three of the top six single-season kill performances in program history (1st, 3rd, 6th) … Her 3.04 kills per set over her career is second in program history … Boasts four of the top 10 performances for kills in a single match, including the top spot with 35 vs. Gardner-Webb (8/27/16) … Appeared in 130 matches over her career, making 110 starts … Her 443 sets played is fourth-most in program history … First-ever Preseason All-Southern Conference selection in program history … Named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23 … As a senior in 2017, started all 32 matches she appeared in, playing in 118 total sets … Finished second on the team with 342 kills, 2.90 per set, and led the team with 321 digs, an average of 2.72 per set … Had 12 double-doubles on the year, including a 23-kill, 23-dig outing against Charleston Southern (9/16), marking the most kills and digs in a single match for her season … Started senior campaign off with three double-double outings in first five matches, highlighted by a 17-kill, 19-dig performance against North Carolina Central (8/25) in the first match of the year … Notched 20 kills against Mercer (10/20) to go along with 14 digs … Had four service aces against Columbia (9/2) and Winthrop (9/8).
JUNIOR (2016): Selected to the Second Team All-Southern Conference, marking the first postseason conference award in program history … Finished with 18 double-doubles in 33 matches … Ranked second on the team with 390 digs… added 45 total blocks and 19 service aces … Was selected the SoCon Athlete of the Week on Sept. 5 after recording 80 kills in four matches at the Bash in the ‘Boro , also marking the first athlete of the week award in program history … Set single season record with 469 kills, ranking third in the conference … Set a single-match program record with 35 kills in a five-set victory against Gardner-Webb (8/27) … Also recorded her first 20-20 performance of the season with 20 digs … Had her second 20-20 match in a five-set victory against Charleston Southern (9/2) with 29 kills and 21 digs … Began season with 11 straight double-digit kill performances … Helped lead the Bulldogs to its first SoCon victory in nearly five years after posting 21 kills and 19 digs against Furman (10/9) … The victory was also the first in program history against Furman in 35 matches … Finished with 25 kills and 15 digs at Chattanooga (10/21) … Also had 22 kills and 15 digs when the Bulldogs hosted Chattanooga (10/29).
SOPHOMORE (2015): One of two Bulldogs to appear in all 35 matches in 2015, seeing action in 129 sets … Led The Citadel in kills with 393 and added 380 digs, 41 total blocks, 17 service aces and 10 assists … Her 393 kills rank second on The Citadel’s single-season kills list … Currently tied for third in school history in career kills per set with 2.64 heading in to her junior campaign … Became the second Bulldog ever to rack up more than 20 kills in a single match four times in one season … Her 380 digs in 2015 are the fourth-most ever in a single campaign in program history … One of three Bulldogs to record at least 300 kills and 200 digs, joining Bailey Kernodle and Megan Sowell … Launched the season with a pair of consecutive double-doubles, posting 12 kills and 18 digs vs. UT-Martin and 22 kills and 15 digs vs. Siena … Piled up 21 kills behind a .319 attack percentage in a loss to Coastal Carolina … Tallied 17 kills and a career-high 33 digs in a 3-2 victory over Gardner-Webb … In the next contest vs. SEMO, collected 27 kills, just two shy of tying the single-match program record … Picked up her fourth and fifth consecutive double-doubles in solid outings against Alabama A&M and UNC-Asheville … Captained the Bulldogs to a nail-biting 3-2 win over rival Charleston Southern with 17 kills and 16 digs … Recorded her first double-double in SoCon play vs. ETSU with 14 kills and 16 digs … Boasted a .417 attack percentage and posted 19 kills in a five-set loss to UNC-Asheville …  Led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over Savannah State with 18 kills … Racked up double-digit digs in six of the Bulldogs’ final eight contests … Finished the season with a 17-kill, 19-dig performance against Western Carolina at the SoCon Tournament.
FRESHMAN (2014): Accumulated 143 kills, 138 digs and 15 total blocks on the season … Joined Bailey Kernodle and Ise d’Angelo as one of only three players on the season with at least 100 kills and 100 digs … Recorded three double-double outings on the season including an 11-dig, 10-kill performance in The Citadel’s four-set victory over Providence in the Kristen Dickmann Invitational … Contributed 13 digs and 11 kills in meeting with Stetson at The Citadel Invitational … Drove home a season-high 17 kills against Charleston Southern as she earned The Citadel Invitational All-Tournament honors with 37 kills and 24 digs in the three-match event … Opened Southern Conference action with nine kills and nine digs in a three-set match with Wofford … Totaled eight digs and eight kills in a three-set clash with Samford … Registered a team-high nine kills to go along with eight digs at Furman … Ended her freshman campaign with her third double-double that included a season-high 17 digs and 10 kills against Wofford.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of Cary Academy in Cary, N.C. … Two-time team co-captain (2012, 2013), she drove home 300 or more kills and digs in her final three seasons … Set the school record for career digs (1,228) and digs in a match (48) … Ended her prep career ranked second in Cary Academy’s history in career kills (1,202) and kills in a match (30) … Only player in program history to accrue over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career … Made four appearances in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) 3A state playoffs , including a runner-up in the state championship (2010) and two state semifinals appearances (2011, 2012) … Named to Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference (TISAC)  all-conference team three times (2011, 2012, 2013), NCISAA-3A all-state team twice (2011, 2013) and as a senior was placed on The News & Observer all-metro team … On the club circuit, Smith twice played for the Triangle Volleyball Club … In 2013 the Triangle Volleyball Club, earned the Monument City Classic 17 Open Tournament championship after being runner-up at the Capitol Classic 15 Open Tournament in 2011 … Between those two seasons she played for NC Elite and brought home the Quest for Excellence and MAPL Raleigh Blue Division tournament titles … Also competed in track and field (2013) where she was runner-up at the TISAC Conference meet and placed fourth at the NCISAA 3A meet.
PERSONAL: Full name is Moriah Faith Smith … Daughter of Vinny and Tonda Smith … Her father attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he participated in football (1989-91), indoor/outdoor track (1990-92) and boxing (1992-93) … Major is exercise science.
