Biography

JUNIOR (2013): Used extensively out of the bullpen in his first season on the active roster after redshirting the previous season … did not allow an earned run and just four overall over his first 17 appearances of the season covering 20.1 innings … walked four and struck out 22 over that span and picked up three victories … earned the win in back-to-back appearances against Winthrop (2/20) and North Florida (2/22) … tossed a perfect inning in the victory over the Eagles and went two shutout frames against the Ospreys … matched his season-long outing of 2.1 innings against UNC Asheville (3/3) and gained the save when he gave up two hits and no runs while fanning four … went 1.2 hitless innings and retired the side in order in the eighth to gain a win against Western Carolina (3/30) … was the winning pitcher in a 1-0, 11-inning victory over Georgia Southern (4/13) after setting down the Eagles 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 10th … worked a perfect inning in a win over Appalachian State in the opening round of the SoCon tournament (5/22) then struck out the side in the eighth with The Citadel holding an 8-6 lead against the Mountaineers in the semifinals (5/25) to help preserve the win that sent the Bulldogs into the championship game.

2012: Member of the roster after transferring from Compton College but redshirted.

PRIOR TO THE CITADEL: Started his career at Campbell in 2010 … hit two home runs that season including a three-run shot against La Salle for his first college hit … also appeared in nine games on the mound without recording a decision … returned to California to play at Compton College in 2011 and was named to the All-South Coast Conference honorable mention team as a catcher.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Claremont High School … lettered four times each in baseball and football … led his league in ERA and received All-Baseball League and all-region honors his senior year.

PERSONAL: Son of Anthony and Lucy Rivera … older brother played football at Army … majoring in psychology.
