The Citadel faces Samford in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 SoCon Volleyball Tournament.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – #5 The Citadel volleyball team (14-13, 8-8) is set to compete on Nov. 22 against #5 Samford Bulldogs (15-11, 9-7) in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament. The first serve is set for 10:30 a.m. inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

Notes on the Bulldogs
  • The Citadel finished the Southern Conference regular season with a 14-13 overall and 8-8 conference record. The Bulldogs dropped both of their matches last weekend against Furman and Samford.
  • The Citadel will head into the SoCon Tournament as the number five seed.
  • The Citadel is 6-4 since 2018 in the Southern Conference Tournament.
  • Ali Ruffin was selected to the All-Southern Conference Second Team. Ruffin has been honored by the SoCon every season as a Bulldog.
  • Jaelynn Elgert is close to breaking the record for career digs of 1,556, which was set by Kenzie Kellerman in 2022.
 
Scouting Samford
Samford finished the regular season with a 15-11 overall and 9-7 SoCon record. It heads into the tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Bulldogs went 2-0 last weekend, winning over The Citadel and UNG. Offensively, Kaleigh Meritt leads Samford with 344 kills, averaging 3.55 per set. Meritt was named to the All-SoCon Second Team. Gracie Lynn Butler was named to the All-SoCon First Team after recording 328 kills and 62.0 total blocks. Defensively, Kate Morgan leads the team with 400 digs, averaging 4.04 per set. Samford took both matches over the Bulldogs during the regular season.
