CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Citadel volleyball team ffell to Western Carolina 3-0 (19-25, 19-25, 21-25) Saturday evening in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

How it Happened
  • The opening set was close as the team's exchanged points and were tied up at 12-12.
  • An error from the Bulldogs allowed the Catamounts a three-point run, interrupted by a kill from Sharlissa de Jesus.
  • Western Carolina responded, pulling ahead to 20-15, and forcing a Bulldog timeout.
  • A combination of kills and Bulldog errors allowed the Catamounts to finish the set at 25-19.
  • The second set saw WCU with an early lead at 10-5, again forcing The Citadel into a timeout.
  • Western Carolina continued to use that momentum, pulling ahead 20-16.
  • A coupling of Catamount errors and a kill from Ali Ruffin allowed The Citadel to pull within one point.
  • From there the Catamounts had a five-point run, ending the set at 25-19.
  • The Citadel opened the final set with a four-point advantage, only to see the Catamounts respond and tie it up at 6-6.
  • The team's exchanged points until a Bulldog error allowed the Catamounts to pull ahead.
  • The Citadel fought back, once again tying the score at 19..
  • Western Carolina went on a 6-2 run for the four-point advantage and ending the match.
