Jackson Eskierka

Jackson Eskierka joined the The Citadel football staff as an Assistant Coach / Quarterbacks in Spring 2023.

In 2025, Eskierka oversaw one of the nation’s most efficient and explosive passing attacks. The Citadel offense finished first in the Southern Conference and sixth nationally in passing yards per completion, as well as being the 14th most efficient passing attack across all of FCS.

He coached a dynamic pair of quarterbacks, Quentin Hayes and Cobey Thompkins, with the duo combining for over 2,500 yards of total offense and completing over 68 percent of their passes against SoCon opponents. Additionally, he guided Thompkins to a SoCon All-Freshman team selection while Hayes finished as the third leading rusher amongst league brethren.

During the 2024 campaign, Eskierka worked with Liberty transfer Jonathan Bennett, helping the Charleston native to second-team All-Southern Conference honors. Under Eskierka’s guidance, Bennett threw for over 1,100 yards and finished as one of the top 10 leading rushers in the SoCon. Further, Bennett’s arm led the Bulldogs to a top 20 national ranking in yards per completion.

Eskierka came to the Lowcountry after spending three seasons as the quarterbacks coach at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

In Beaumont, Eskierka had the unenviable task of putting together a depth chart that had never taken a snap at LU. The result was the emergence of Jalen Dummett as one of the top newcomers in the Southland Conference. Dummett would go on to become one of the most accurate passers in the league, completing nearly 64 percent of his passes for 478 yards and four touchdowns in the COVID shortened season.

Eskierka joined the Cardinal staff after spending the previous seven years at San Diego State. During his time with the Aztecs, Eskierka served multiple vital roles on teams that advanced to seven consecutive bowl games and claimed two Mountain West Championships.
Eskierka spent the last 3 years as a graduate assistant and helped coach the Aztecs to 27 wins and three Bowl game appearances. That stretch also included two 10-win seasons and a Mountain West Conference division title for the Aztecs.

Eskierka began his career at SDSU serving a dual role for the Aztecs. Beginning in 2013, he worked as coach’s assistant for the offensive staff, while also serving as the lead student manager for the football program.

Eskierka received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from San Deigo State in December 2016. He has also received his master’s in liberal arts and interdisciplinary studies from SDSU in 2020.

A native of Minneapolis, Minn., his father, Stan Eskierka, has been a Minnesota high school football coach for nearly 30 years.
