Bulldog Track and Field Team Participates in Thanksgiving Food Drive

Charleston, S.C. -  Every year before Thanksgiving Day, The Citadel Track and Field team splits into groups, separated by class, for a competition to see who can raise enough money to buy the most food and the biggest turkey to donate so four underprivileged families can enjoy a big Thanksgiving dinner.

This year, the seniors collected enough money to buy the biggest turkey to be donated, weighing in at 26 pounds! All the food is dropped off at the Palmetto Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The church selects four families in the town of Huger, S.C., to deliver the baskets to before Thanksgiving Day. Each basket contains canned, non-perishable foods and a turkey so the family can make a Turkey Day feast.
