Bulldog Cross Country Releases 2010 Schedule

Charleston, S.C. - Bulldog Cross Country Head Coach Jody Huddleston and the cross country program announced the schedule for the 2010 season on Monday. This year's schedule is highlighted by the Hagan Stone Classic, a race the Bulldogs have not competed in over 20 years.

The Citadel will open their season on Sept. 18 at the Winthrop Invitational/South Carolina State Meet in Rock Hill, S.C. In this meet, the Bulldogs will be scored against all teams participating and then will receive a separate score only against collegiate schools in the state of South Carolina.

The team continues to honor their fallen Bulldog when they host the 30th Annual Will Wilson Citadel Invitational at James Island County Park in James Island, S.C. on Sept. 25. The Bulldogs return on the road and stay in North Carolina for the next three races, including the 2010 Southern Conference Championships.

The Citadel will compete in the Hagan Stone Classic on Oct. 2 in Greensboro, N.C. and for the first time in school history, the Bulldogs will participate in the Royal CC Challenge which is hosted by Queens University of Charlotte on Oct. 15.

The Bulldogs close regular season action at the 2010 SoCon Cross Country Championships on Oct. 30 in Boone, N.C. If the season goes as planned, The Citadel hopes to send a few athletes to the NCAA Regional on Nov. 13.

"We are looking forward to this season," said Huddleston. "We have a new meet hosted by Queens University in Charlotte that we have never been to and a meet in Greensboro that we have not been to in 20 years. Along with hosting the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational and the SoCon Championships in Boone, it should be a fun and exciting schedule for the cadets."
