Bulldogs Host First Volleyball Match of 2012 Season on Tuesday Evening

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel volleyball team is set to host its first home match of the season on Tuesday evening when the Bulldogs pit themselves against crosstown rival College of Charleston at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs (2-13, 0-1 SoCon) are looking to return to their winning ways after a tough five-set loss against UNC Greensboro over the course of the weekend. The Citadel was slightly edged by UNCG (19-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 15-11) in its fifth five-set match of the season.

The senior tandem of Rachael Farrell and Jessica Maxwell can be credited with much of the Bulldogs' offensive turnaround of late. Farrell has 63 of her team-high 122 kills in the last five matches, including a .263 attack percentage. Meanwhile, Maxwell has 40 kills, including a pair of 10-kill outings against Stetson and UNCG, and his hitting .273 in her last five.

On the defensive end, Emily Dalton has impacted the Bulldogs in the similar fashion as her senior classmates. Dalton is responsible for 68 digs and has come through with five key services aces since The Citadel's five-set victory over Stetson on Sept. 14.

The Cadets are seeking their first all-time victory against College of Charleston.
