Bob Winch enters his sixth season as the head coach of The
Citadel Soccer Program and is coming off the most successful season
in program history, which saw the Bulldogs place third in the
Southern Conference including their first conference tournament
appearance and victory.
Winch earned his second consecutive Southern Conference Coach of
the Year honor as he mentored The Citadel to an overall record of
12-8-1 and a conference record of 7-4 to land the Bulldogs in third
place, the highest SoCon finish in program history. In the same
season the Bulldogs recorded program-first wins against Maine and
Charleston Southern and program-first SoCon wins against
Appalachian State, Davidson, Elon, Furman, Western Carolina, and
Wofford. Coach Winch was instrumental in the recruiting of Mariana
Garcia, who earned numerous postseason accolades including The
Citadel’s first SoCon Freshman of the Year award. Winch
coached the Bulldogs to the program’s first All-Conference
selections and awards, collecting three All-Freshman team honors
(Vanessa Aponte, Mariana Garcia, and Nicole Levermann), a First
Team All-Conference award (Mariana Garcia), two SoCon
All-Conference team members (Vanessa Aponte and Nicole Martinoli),
and two SoCon Player of the Week awards (Amy Loughran and Nicole
Levermann).Winch continued to make an impact on the Bulldogs as he
guided the team to their first Southern Conference Tournament in
program history, including a home matchup against Furman in the
first-round quarterfinals. The Citadel collected its first
tournament win in that game, ousting Furman, 2-1, in a double
overtime thriller that ended with a successful penalty kick.
In 2009, Winch coached The Citadel to a 10th place finish in the
SoCon. In the same season, the Bulldogs won their first home
season-opener in school history, ousting Alabama State, 14-0. The
win marked a school record of game-highs in most goals, most shots
(42) and most assists (16). Winch helped the Bulldogs clinch their
first win over a Big South opponent when they won, 1-0, against
back-to-back regular season Big South champions Coastal
Carolina.
In 2008, Winch went down in Bulldog history as the first
women’s soccer head coach to win a Southern Conference game.
The Citadel defeated Georgia Southern, 2-1.
In his first two seasons, Winch took major strides at the helm. He
led the Bulldogs to their first conference tie against Chattanooga
and tied cross-town rival Charleston Southern.
Winch, a UNC Pembroke graduate, completed a one-year stint as an
assistant with Auburn’s women’s soccer program. The
Tigers finished second in the Western Division of the Southeastern
Conference and made it to the championship game of the SEC
Tournament to clinch second place behind nationally ranked
Tennessee. Winch also helped coach four SEC All-Tournament
selections in 2005, including the tournament’s most valuable
player.
Before joining the staff at Auburn, Winch served as the
men’s head soccer coach at the University of Central Florida
from 1993-2005. He led the team to three consecutive Atlantic Sun
Tournament titles, while also making an appearance in the second
round of the NCAA Tournament for three consecutive seasons. Winch
was also named the 2004 Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year. Winch began
his collegiate coaching career at Clemson University where he was a
men’s assistant coach from 1990-92.
Winch graduated from UNC Pembroke in 1986 and was a member of the
soccer team of which he was named team captain from 1983-84. He
went on to pursue a post-graduate education, receiving a
master’s degree in education from Slippery Rock University in
1988.
Winch is married to Janet Winch and the couple have three
children, Sara, Nicholas and Hayden.
Jamie Stewart

Jamie Stewart enters her sixth season as an assistant coach at
The Citadel. Stewart is the recruiting coordinator for the team and
responsible for the operations of the soccer program.
In 2010, Stewart aided the recruitment of eight newcomers to the
roster, three of which were named to the SoCon All-Freshman
team.
Stewart has been involved with The Citadel Soccer Training Center
since 2005 and has spent five years on the Ralph Lundy Soccer
Association Soccer Camp staff and coached three years for the Kevin
Dempsey Soccer Camp and the Mount Pleasant Soccer Club. She
also led the MPSC Conquest soccer team to two South Carolina State
Championships.
A 2004 graduate of the College of Charleston, Stewart earned a
bachelor’s degree in corporate communications while she was
also a four-year member of the Cougar soccer team. During her
time as a Cougar, Stewart earned second-team All-Southern
Conference honors twice and was tabbed to the SoCon All-Tournament
team three times. She acted as team captain from 2001-04 and
was named an NSCAA Academic All-American in 2003. Stewart was
also a top-three finalist for the J. Stewart Walker Cup which is
awarded to a top athlete excelling in academics, athletics and
leadership at the College of Charleston.
Stewart was a four-year varsity player at Mauldin High School in
Greenville, S.C. and was awarded the AAAA SC Player of the Year in
2000. She was part of the Olympic Development Team for seven
years and was also a member of the five-time state championship
squad UGSA United.
In 2011, Stewart earned her National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA) Diploma.
Stewart earned her master’s degree in secondary counseling
from The Citadel Graduate College in May 2009 and holds her USSF
‘D’ License.
Enrique Rodriquez

Rodriguez is in his third year as the Bulldogs’ assistant
soccer coach. Rodriguez comes to The Citadel from the North Area
Soccer Association in Charleston, S.C., where he served as the head
coach of the 16 and under boys soccer team. He also assisted with
Coach Winch’s 2008 Summer Camp.
In 2010, Rodriguez was instrumental in bringing eight newcomers to
the roster, three of which were named to the SoCon All-Freshman
team, including the 2010 SoCon Freshman and Player of the Year
award winner (Mariana Garcia).
Rodriguez plays an influential role in recruiting for the
Bulldogs, and helped bring in eight newcomers in 2010 who all
played an instrumental role in the teams historical season.
Before relocating to Charleston, Rodriguez spent several years in
Miami, Fla., challenging and impacting youth soccer in his
community. He coached the Kendall Soccer Coalition where they were
finalist for the 2008 Florida President’s Cup, 2008 finalists
in the South Florida United Youth Soccer Association Region A, 2008
semi-finalists in the Weston Invitational, 2007 semi-finalists in
the Plantation Eagles Tournament and the 2007 finalists in the West
Pines Kick-off. Also in 2008, Rodriguez led the Palmer Trinity High
School to the quarterfinals of the 2A district in Florida.
From 2004-2006, Rodriguez coached the Miami Strike Force where
they were the finalists for the 2006 USoccer Club State Cup. Miami
Strike was also in the final eight of the state cup in 2005,
finalists in the 2004 South Florida United Youth Soccer
association, the 2004 champions of the Countryside Easter
International and the Cocoa Beach President’s Cup champions
in 2004. Rodriguez served as the assistant coach at Belen Jesuit
High School where he led his team to be semifinalists in the 4A
district in 2006 and made it to the quarterfinals in the 3A
district in 2005.
Prior to coaching, Rodriguez received his bachelor’s degree
in architecture in 2000 from La Salle University in Bogota,
Colombia where he played soccer and participated in several college
state tournaments. Rodriguez earned several certifications
including the Local Soccer Youth License, National D License, KNVB
Coaching Certificate and USASA National Adult Soccer License.
Rodriguez currently resides on Daniel Island, S.C., with his wife
Liliana Escamilla and a daughter, Mariana.
Steven Outlaw

Steve Outlaw enters his third year as the athletic trainer for the women’s soccer team at The Citadel.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native graduated from Florida State University in May 2009 with a bachelor’s of science degree in athletic training. While at FSU, Outlaw served as an athletic trainer with several of the Seminoles’ athletic teams including football, track and field and women’s soccer.
Outlaw is also working on his master’s degree in health, exercise and sport science from The Citadel’s Graduate College. He currently resides on James Island.
Jessica Prencipe

Jessica Prencipe begins her first year as a member of the Bulldog Strength & Conditioning staff. As a Graduate Assistant, Prencipe will work directly with the soccer and volleyball programs.
Prencipe received a bachelor of science degree in applied exercise science from Springfield College in 2010. She also earned a minor in athletic coaching, and spent her coaching practicum by instituting an off-season strength program for women’s soccer at Springfield College. Prencipe holds certifications in CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator), lifeguarding and first aid from the American Red Cross.
