Seven Bulldog Soccer Players Achieve Perfect GPAs for Spring Semester

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel soccer team netted 26 goals on the field during the 2011 season but in the spring semester the Bulldogs achieved an impressive goal in the classroom as seven players posted perfect 4.0 GPAs and 16 recorded GPAs of 3.0 or higher. As a team, the Bulldogs posted a cumulative GPA of 3.54, tops among all athletic programs for the spring.

Highlighting the list of perfect marks for the 2012 spring semester was senior Shanna Couch who received top graduate honors among The Citadel Corps of Cadets. Couch earned a bachelor of science degree in health, exercise and sport science (HESS) with a minor in biology and was recently accepted into graduate school at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she will pursue her career in physical therapy.

Also tabbed to the President's List were Grace Raines (biology), Karina Schneider (business administration), Leah Hawkins (English), Miranda Johnson (criminal justice), Hannah Warne (HESS) and Mariana Garcia (biology).

Goalkeepers Sarah Katchen (biology) and Cassie Palmacci (education) as well as Ruth Leiva received Dean's List honors which requires a GPA between 3.5-3.79.

Vanessa Aponte (criminal justice), Nicholle Griffith (criminal justice), Jillian Meyer (HESS),  Angela Foyt (HESS), Amy Loughran (Psychology) and Whitney Nave (HESS) all made the Athletic Director's List which includes student-athletes with GPAs in the range of 3.0 and 3.49.
