Bulldog Soccer Releases 2010 Soccer Schedule
Charleston, S.C. - Bulldog Soccer Head Coach Bob Winch and the coaching staff announced the 2010 soccer schedule on Tuesday, May 4. This year's line-up includes three tournaments, one which is at the prestigious Air Force Academy, and heavy weights from the Atlantic Sun, American East, Mountain West, Big Sky and Southwestern Athletic conferences.
The Bulldogs will open the season with an exhibition game at Winthrop on Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. before hosting The Citadel Nike Invitational with first-time opponents at WLI Field. The Bulldogs will welcome Jacksonville for the home season-opener on Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. and then will close the tournament with Maine on Aug. 29 at 1 p.m.
The Cadets will face their first road test at the Air Force Academy Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Sept. 3-5. The Bulldogs will begin the tournament with first-time opponent Air Force Academy and then Big Sky foe Northern Colorado.
The Citadel will remain on the road and rally in the South Carolina State Tournament in Orangeburg, S.C. The Bulldogs will battle against Alabama State on Sept. 10 and then Lipscomb on Sept. 12. The Citadel returns home for S.C. State on Sept. 15 before traveling for the next three games.
Charleston Southern will host the Bulldogs in North Charleston on Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. before The Citadel begins Southern Conference play. The Citadel opens SoCon action with Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. on Sept. 24 and Appalachian State on Sept. 26.
The Bulldogs will seek another win against Chattanooga on Oct. 1 and then battle the Bulldogs of Samford on Oct. 3, both at WLI Field. The Cadets will face another road challenge at UNC Greensboro on Oct. 8 and Elon on Oct. 10.
The Citadel hopes to defeat Georgia Southern for the third consecutive year on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga. The Bulldogs will close the 2010 season in the Lowcountry, hosting three games and traveling across town to College of Charleston. Davidson will come to WLI Field on Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. while Wofford and Furman will compete against the Bulldogs on Oct. 22 and Oct. 24, respectively. The Citadel will rally against SoCon rival College of Charleston on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at Patriot's Point.
The Southern Conference Championships will be held Oct. 31 - Nov. 7 with the top seeded team hosting the tournament.
