Luvsandorj Wins 184-pound Title at 2013 National Collegiate Open
Richmond, Va. – Turtogtokh Luvsandorj took the 184-pound title at Sunday's National Collegiate Open, an open championship designed for redshirts from around the country, in the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond, Va.
Luvsandorj, who is currently redshirting the 2012-13 season, opened the competition with a pin over Virginia Tech's Sam Law in the first period before topping Law's Hokie teammate John Dixon in a 4-2 scuffle.
A sudden victory takedown over Finger Lakes' Gabe Dean placed the Mongolia native in the championship bout against Old Dominion's Jack Dechow. Luvsandorj finished off Dechow with a 3-2 decision to take the title in his respective bracket.
Luvsandorj, who has amassed 96 victories in three different weight classes, will chase The Citadel's all-time wins mark next season of 125 set by Sean Markey in 2006. Current teammate, Odie Delaney, most recently moved into second place on the list with 117.
