Bulldog Wrestling Treks to Nevada to Compete in Reno Tournament of Champions
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel wrestling team will travel across the country to participate in the competitive Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday at the Reno Convention Center. The tournament will include 24 collegiate teams including No. 11 Oregon State and No. 17 Wyoming.
The Citadel (1-1, 1-0 SoCon) is coming off a solid Southern Conference opener at McAlister Field House on Dec. 6 where the Bulldogs used two pins, a technical fall and five decisions to rout Davidson, 32-12.
Odie Delaney, who recorded his 48th career pin in the conference opener, is on pace to eclipse the 100-win and 50-pin marks during his final season as a Bulldog. The heavyweight, who is currently ranked 16th in the nation holds a career mark of 92-37.
In his first official collegiate season, 141-pound Ugi Khishignyam has emerged as a wrecking force for the Bulldog wrestling team. The Mongolia native enters the competition ranked seventh in the country and holds a 14-2 record, including two dual meet victories.
The competition will be the last for the Bulldogs in 2012 as The Citadel grapplers will take two weeks off before competing at the Southern Scuffle on Jan. 1-2 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
