Two Members of Bulldog Wrestling Still Alive at Southern Scuffle

Southern Scuffle Day One Brackets

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – A pair of members of The Citadel wrestling team remain in contention after day one of the annual Southern Scuffle at McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Turtogtokh Luvsandorj and Odie Delaney will both wrestle on Monday to try and earn a place in each of their respective weight classes through the consolation brackets.

Luvsandorj advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship bracket before Missouri's Patrick Wright handed him a 2-1 defeat. The No. 17-ranked Bulldog knocked off Old Dominion's Adrin Taylor and Oregon State's Ty Vinson to get to the quarterfinal round. Luvsandorj is slated to square off against Virginia's Vinny Waldhauser in the consolation quarterfinals.

Delaney handed Devon Mellon of Missouri a 3-2 decision in his opening bout before falling to Ohio's Andy Hartshorn by a similar 3-2 score. Delaney posted a pair of victories in the consolation bracket to reach the consolation quarterfinals, earning a 10-0 major decision over Cornell's Stryker Lane and pinning Virginia Tech's Bobby Lavelle in 46 seconds. Delaney will face Ohio's Jeremy Johnson on Monday.
