Bulldogs Prepare for Great Smokies Intercollegiate

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel golf team competes in its second tournament of the 2012 season this weekend when the Dogs head to Waynesville, N.C. for the Great Smokies Intercollegiate.

The tournament will take place at the Waynesville Inn – Golf Resort and Spa par-72, 5,932-yard course.

A total of 16 teams, including five from the Southern Conference, will compete in the event. Among the non-conference participants include UAB, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Presbyterian College and Western Kentucky. 

BULLDOGS OPEN SEASON AT TERRIER INTERCOLLEGIATE: In last weekend's fall opener, The Citadel golf team fired a two-day 651 to place 12th at the Terrier Intercollegiate held at the Spartanburg Country Club. Junior Erica Pellegrini led the way for the Bulldogs, firing a 159 (+15) to place herself in a six-way tie for 40th among individuals.

Pellegrini fired a 77 on Monday, the best two-day score by any Citadel player, following an opening round 82.

The Cadets also got a solid showing from the freshmen tandem of Eraina Manor (161, +17) and Hollie Salvo (162, +18). Manor began her collegiate career with a team-low 80, in the opening round, and followed that performance with an 81 on Monday afternoon.

Completing the scorecard for the Dogs was Kellie Anderson (172, +28) and TaKima Butler (178, +34).
