Spartanburg, S.C. –
The Citadel golf team fired a two-day 651 to place 12th at the Terrier Intercollegiate held at the Spartanburg Country Club. Junior Erica Pellegrini led the way for the Bulldogs, firing a 159 (+15) to place herself in a six-way tie for 40th among individuals.

Pellegrini fired a 77 on Monday, the best two-day score by any Citadel player, following an opening round 82.

The Cadets also got a solid showing from the freshmen tandem of Eraina Manor (161, +17) and Hollie Salvo (162, +18). Manor began her collegiate career with a team-low 80, in the opening round, and followed that performance with an 81 on Monday afternoon.

Completing the scorecard for the Dogs was Kellie Anderson (172, +28) and TaKima Butler (178, +34).

UNC Pembroke rallied with a second-round 294 to capture first place in the team category. The Braves, who shot 595 over the course of the tournament, were followed closely by Gardner-Webb (597) and UNC Wilmington (602).

Top individual honors went to Gardner-Webb's Mary K. Donovan, who finished with a -1 (143). She edged out stiff competition from Wofford's Anne Marie Covar and Mercer's Mary Alice Murphy, who finished tied at even par with a 144.

The Citadel returns to action on Sept. 16, when the team heads to the great Smokies Intercollegiate in Waynesville, N.C. For more information on Bulldog golf, go to the official website of The Citadel Athletics,
