Pellegrini Tops Citadel Golfers at 2012 SoCon Championships

– Behind sophomore Erica Pellegrini, The Citadel golf team completed the season at the 2012 Southern Conference Championships held at Moss Creek Golf Club. Pellegrini carded a final round 88 to finish the 54-hole event tied for 41st with a 255 (+39).

Teammate Alanna Jean-Keith put the finishing touches on her four-year career with a final round 82, shooting a 256 at the tournament.

Fellow senior Bree Baumgartner wrapped up her collegiate career with an 87 on the day which gave her a 265 (+49) for the SoCon Championships.

Freshman Kellie Anderson carded the lowest round of the tournament for the Bulldogs, posting a 79 in the final round. One of 17 players to record a final round in the 70s, Anderson completed the tournament with a 263.

The Cadets (1,033, +169) wrapped up the 11th season in program history with a 10th place showing.

Chattanooga earned its third consecutive Southern Conference crown with a final score of 921 (+57). UNCG, which led the field in each of the first two days, finished with a score of 924. College of Charleston rounded out the top three with a score of 939.

The Mocs Jordan Britt (222, +6) was the 2012 SoCon individual medalist with a three-stroke advantage over UNCG's Fanny Cnops, who shot a 225. The Mocs and the Spartans finished with two players each in the top five, including Chattanooga's Maria Juliana Loza (227), who placed third, and UNCG's Ana Lucia Martinez (228), who finished in fourth. Furman's Laura Wearn (231) rounded out the top five individuals.
