Pellegrini Fires 82 in First Round of Low Country Intercollegiate

Behind an opening round 82 by sophomore Erica Pellegrini, The Citadel golf team wrapped up Sunday's opening round of the Low Country Intercollegiate in 14th place with a combined team score of 340.

Pellegrini (+10) is locked in a six-way tie for 39th, after firing a pair of 41s at the par-72, 5,853-yard South Course at Moss Creek Golf Club.

Meanwhile, Cadets Alanna-Jean Keith (84, +12) and TaKima Butler (86, +14), placed themselves in 51st and 58th, respectively.

Rounding out team scores for the Bulldogs were Bree Baumgartner (88, +16) and Kellie Anderson (88, +16), making way for a seven-way logjam in 62nd place.

Southern Conference rival Appalachian State fired a 313 (+25) to hold a one-shot lead over Jacksonville State (314, +26). Also within striking distance are Radford, Newberry and Presbyterian College, who shot a 316 (+28) and enter Monday's action in a tie for third.

The top of the individual leaderboard is shared by the trio of Maria Luz Besio (Newberry), Wonji Choi (Princeton) and Alex Hendricks (Wofford), who each fired a 74 (+2).
