Butler Fires Final Round 87 as Bulldogs Complete Spider Invitational

The Citadel golf team fired a final round 360 on Sunday afternoon to place 12th at the Spider Invitational held at the St. James Plantation. The Bulldogs were paced by the tandem of Alanna-Jean Keith (261, +45) and Erica Pellegrini (263, +47), who placed among the top 50 individuals in the tournament.

Keith followed scores of 88 and 83 with a final round 90 to put herself in a three-way tie for 43rd, alongside Winthrop's Katie Bolline and Allison Lee. Meanwhile, Pellegrini wrapped up the tournament with rounds of 88, 84 and 91, tying USC Upstate's Amanda Hall and Brittany Lowe for 47th.

The Citadel's freshmen trio of Devin Lowe (278, +62), TaKima Butler (283, +67) and Kellie Anderson (293, +77) rounded out the remaining individuals.

While Lowe took away a 58th place showing, it was Butler's final round 87 that brought home lowest score for the Dogs, moving her to 61st. Anderson capped off a three-day showing with a 97, putting her in 62nd.

Intracity foe Charleston Southern made a final round surge, carding a 317 at the Reserve Course, to tie Boston College (963, +99) for top team in the tournament. Meanwhile, UNC Pembroke (977, +113) finished third.

Top individual honors went to Boston College's Katia Joo (230, +14), who wrapped up the tournament with a final round 76. Winthrop's Jennifer Dilger (234, +18) finished in second, while host Richmond's Lauren Conder tied Charleston Southern's Amanda D'Ostroph with a score of 237 (+21) to round out the top three.

The Citadel returns to action in two weeks, at the Low Country Intercollegiate, when the team heads to Hilton Head on March 25-26.
