The Citadel Finishes 11th at High Point Spring Invitational

High Point, N.C. - The Citadel golf squad placed 11th out of 12 teams in the High Point Spring Invitational at Meadowlands Golf Course in High Point, N.C. The Bulldogs and the rest of the field finished the first round Tuesday after it was suspended due to inclement weather on Monday, and the second and final 18 holes immediately followed.
The Citadel finished with a total score of 696 (351-345), 16 strokes behind 10th-place Radford but 30 strokes ahead of Hampton.
Senior Kayla Bowsher once again led the Bulldogs in scoring for the seventh time in 10 tournaments this season, and after firing the lowest score in both rounds, has now led The Citadel in 15 of 23 rounds. Bowsher finished tied for 18th with a total of 161 (81-80). Senior Tracy Hancock finished with a total of 174 (91-83) while freshman Kasey Owens fired a 178 (88-90).
Methodist College won the tournament with a score of 622, four strokes in front of Southern Conference member Western Carolina and five ahead of third-place Gardner-Webb. SoCon schools Elon and Wofford finished fourth and fifth respectively, while host High Point placed sixth. Kennesaw State, Appalachian State and Old Dominion finished seventh through ninth respectively.
The Bulldogs will complete the 2005-06 season in the Southern Conference Championships, hosted by Elon, April 21-23.
