Bulldogs Finish Fifth at Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Citadel Bulldogs golf team finished fifth out of nine teams in the Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla., over the weekend.

After a score of 334 on the first 18 holes, the Bulldogs had a total of 346 in the second round to finish the tournament with a mark of 680, three strokes behind fourth-place Stetson.

Kayla Bowsher paced the Bulldogs individually as she followed up her team-leading first-round score of 79 with an 85 on the second 18 holes to tie for ninth in the tournament with a total of 164. Seniors Tracy Hancock and Kelley Thorsen also shot 85's in the final round to tie Bowsher for the team lead on the final 18 holes.

Jacksonville University won the tournament with a score of 637, 26 strokes better than host Bethune-Cookman. Embry-Riddle finished third with a total score of 672. Old Dominion, Charleston Southern, New York State-Albany and Hampton finished sixth through ninth, respectively, to round out the field.

The Citadel continues the spring season at the Shamrock Intercollegiate in Rock Hill, S.C. March 16-19.
