The Citadel Places 11th at Draper Valley

Draper Valley, VA - The Citadel women's golf team began the 2005-06 season by placing 11th out of 16 teams in the Draper Valley Women's Invitational at Draper Valley Golf Club.

The Bulldogs finished with a two-round score of 636, one stroke ahead of 12th place Gardner-Webb and five shots behind ninth-place finishers Kennesaw State and Radford. Fellow Southern Conference member Western Carolina won the tournament by 13 strokes over Elon with a score of 591.

Senior Tracy Hancock paced The Citadel as she tied for 11th with a two-day total of 151. Hancock fired a round of 74 on the first day and finished up the tournament with a 77.

Senior Kayla Bowsher tied for 31st with a two-day total of 156 (80-76). Other Bulldogs to place in the tournament were senior Kelley Thorsen who tied for 64th (86-80, 166), freshman Brittney Nagel in 68th (86-82, 168) and freshman Kasey Owens at 69th (81-88, 169).

The Citadel returns to the links on September 23 for the first of the three-day Sea Trail Intercollegiate tournament in Calabash, NC.
