Charleston, S.C. – Robert Jackson and Richard Hunton paced The Citadel rifle team with scores of 576 and 573, respectively, as the Bulldogs took second place in Saturday's Southeastern Air Rifle Conference Championship match at Inouye Marksmanship Center.

Jackson carded his fifth conference score of 570 or better in the season finale to finish atop the Bulldog roster with a SEARC average of 573.1. The mark is good for seventh place in the conference.

Hunton, who finished ninth in the conference with an air rifle average of 570.3, took 11th in Saturday's match, while senior captain Julia McCullohs carded a 570 in her final collegiate competition to take 12th.

The Citadel finished the championship in second place with a score of 2281 and closed out the 2012-13 campaign in second overall behind SEARC Champion NC State.

Following the match several Bulldog marksmen were honored at the SEARC banquet, which awards the conference's top teams and shooters, as well as sectional achievements.

Wright, Jackson and Hunton were tabbed as the top ROTC Air Rifle shooters, while Jackson and Nathaniel Moy took the top two spots in ROTC small bore.

"It was a sad moment knowing that the seniors have shot their final match," said Coach William C. Smith. "It's time for them to move on and take the basics that they have learned in rifle and apply them to life after college and in some cases life in the military."

The Bulldog men's team finished with a record of 32-18 with Jackson earning the top air rifle and small bore average (557.39). McCullohs led a women's team that finished with a 19-31 record as the senior carded an air rifle average of 565.08. Ashten Byrne led the women's small bore team with a 512.13.
