Jackson Leads Bulldogs in Weekend NCAA Rifle Competition
Charleston, S.C. – Robert Jackson led The Citadel Rifle team in each of its two NCAA competitions this weekend at the Inouye Marksmanship Center. The Bulldogs took fourth place on Saturday and third place in Sunday's match.
The Citadel hosted two ranked teams on Saturday in No. 8 Air Force and No. 14 NC State along with military rival VMI.
Jackson carded a small bore score of 569 to take eighth place and a 572 air rifle mark to earn ninth overall on Saturday.
NC State's Maddy Pike took the individual crown with an air rifle score of 590. Air Force won the team title for the day with 4,636 points, followed by NC State (4,619) and VMI (4,483).
Jackson improved his air rifle score on Sunday, carding a 575 to earn seventh place in the match. Hunton took second for the Bulldogs with a score of 569.
Air Force nabbed first in consecutive days with a team score of 4,643, while 12th-ranked Nevada finished behind the Falcons with a team total of 4,625.
The Citadel will have two weeks off to prepare for the sixth Southeastern Air Rifle Conference match and NCAA Sectional at the Inouye Marksmanship Center on Feb. 16-17.
