The Citadel Marksmen Set to Host Three Nationally Ranked Teams

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team will host a two-day NCAA rifle match this weekend at the Inouye Marksmanship Center when it welcomes eighth-ranked Air Force, 12th-ranked Nevada, 14th-ranked NC State and military rival VMI.

This weekend's match will mark the third NCAA open match against Southeastern Air Rifle Conference foe NC State and second against VMI.

The Bulldogs edged out the Keydets in the season-opener, 4,403-4,360. The Citadel took the top four spots of the match in air rifle as Richard Hunton posted the day's top score of 565.

The Wolfpack, who currently sit atop the SEARC standings, have bettered the Bulldogs in each of their meetings this season.

The Citadel is coming off a second place finish in the SEARC 5 competition last weekend where senior captain Julia McCullohs and team leader Robert Jackson carded 569s to lift the Bulldogs past North Georgia College and State University.
