Citadel Marksmen Host No. 6 Army, No. 14 NC State to Open 2013 Slate
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel rifle team will be back in action for the first time since Dec. 1 and first time at home since Nov. 10 when it hosts No. 6 Army and No. 14 NC State on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Inouye Marksmanship Center.
The Bulldogs completed the first half of the season with an 18-7 mark and currently sit in second place in the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference standings with three conference matches remaining.
Robert Jackson led the team in five of the seven matches during the opening half of the season, recording a career-high mark of 581 against then third-ranked Kentucky. The sophomore holds an air rifle average of 572.5, tops among his teammates.
Fellow sophomore Richard Hunton has paced Jackson throughout the season thus far, collecting an air rifle average of 570.4. Hunton earned his career-best score at SEARC 1 when he carded a 579.
Jackson and Hunton have commanded the smallbore squad with averages of 559 and 549, respectively.
