Bulldogs Drop 7-0 Decision to Georgia Southern Saturday at Earle Tennis Center
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team came up short today against Georgia Southern as the Bulldogs were blanked by the Eagles 7-0. The Dogs fall to 5-7, 0-5 in the SoCon while Georgia Southern improves to 6-4, 2-0 in the conference.
Although The Citadel did not win the doubles point, the duo of David Orces and Oliver Dedding won in the No. 1 position over Rayane Djouad and Marco Osorio 8-3. With the victory the Bulldog tandem improved their overall record to 6-4 and 2-3 in the Southern Conference.
Three different Bulldogs led after the first set but eventually lost in heartbreaking tiebreakers. In the No. 1 slot Orces' three-match winning streak was halted by Andrew Dromsky as the Eagles' sophomore defeated Orces, 4-6, 6-3, 10-7. Peter Bleach suffered his fourth conference loss at the hands of Matthija Verdam, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 in the No. 3 position and in the No. 6 spot Jackson Pride was taken down by Kyle Hoffman, 4-6, 6-1, 10-6.
The Bulldogs will finish out their five-match home stand with Wofford on Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the Earle Tennis Center before entering Spring Break play at Hilton Head, S.C., on Thursday.
