Bulldogs Host Conference Foe Davidson at Earle Tennis Center
Charleston, S.C. – Coming off a 0-2 weekend to open its Southern Conference schedule, The Citadel tennis returns to action Friday to host Davidson at 1 p.m., at the Earle Tennis Center in its first of a five-match home stand.
After starting out the season 5-1, the Bulldogs have struggled in conference play as they have only earned a total of one point in their last two matches.
Junior James Atkinson made his season debut for the Bulldogs this past weekend and earned a 1-1 record and recorded the only individual win for The Citadel. Senior David Orces and sophomore Peter Bleach both remain above the .500 mark in singles with a 4-3 and 5-3 record, respectively.
Davidson
Davidson (7-3, 1-0) is led by sophomore Nicky Kunz and senior Joe Schafer in singles with a mark of 6-3. Roger Berlanga remains hot for the Wildcat netters, as the sophomore is undefeated and has won his last three matches.
In its conference opener against Chattanooga on Wednesday, Davidson won in a 5-2 decision.
Davidson has yet to be victorious on the road winning six-straight matches at home earlier this season.
Dating back to 1957 the Wildcats hold a 38-12-1 advantage over The Citadel. The Bulldogs will be looking for their first win over their conference foe since 2006.
A recap and results will be available following the match on Friday.
