Orces Eliminated in Second Round of ITA Carolina Regional

Cary, N.C. – David Orces, the lone Bulldog to represent The Citadel tennis team at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., was eliminated in the second round of play today.

In the morning qualifying round, Orces defeated Campbell's David Clavera in straight sets by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and therefore earned a chance to play later in the day against North Carolina's Esben Hess-Olesen. The Tar Heel netter is currently ranked No. 107 by the ITA Division I preseason men's singles rankings.

Hess-Olsen, who earned a first round bye, defeated Orces with the scores of 6-4, 6-2 and eliminated the Bulldog senior in the second round of singles draw. Orces went 1-1 in singles draw at the ITA Carolina Regional to tally a 12-3 singles record this fall.

The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend, Oct. 26-28, as they host The Citadel Fall Invitational at the Earle Tennis Center.
