Bulldogs Still Alive in Doubles Draw at Steve Baras Fall Classic
Chattanooga, Tenn. – The Citadel men's tennis team wrapped up the first day of play at the Steve Baras Fall Classic hosted by Chattanooga at the Champions club with two doubles teams advancing in the draw.
The Bulldogs tandems of Peter Bleach and Oliver Dedding and Matt McGill and Jackson Pride made it past the first round of doubles draw on Friday to earn a spot in main draws on Saturday.
Competing in Flight-3, the duo of Bleach and Dedding defeated Felipe Watanable and Felipe Diaz from Jacksonville State by a score of 8-5. The Bulldog pair is scheduled to face off against Rogerio Ordieg and Ricardo Pabon from East Tennessee State on Saturday. The winner of this match will move on to play Sunday morning for the championship match in Flight-3.
Freshmen McGill and Pride also found success on courts as they defeated Kevin Tan and Fabio Medina from Lee by a score of 8-4. The Bulldog tandem will take the courts against Southern Conference foes Danny Mack and Cameron Smith from UNC Greensboro to earn a spot in the championship match in Flight-4 scheduled for Sunday morning.
Individually, The Citadel wasn't able to make it past the first day in singles draw, as all four Bulldogs were defeated on Friday.
