Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel men's tennis head coach Kemper Baker announced his team's 2012-13 tennis schedule this week. The Bulldogs, who finished last season with a 5-18 record under the helm of first-year coaches Baker and assistant Oliver Reynolds, will host eight home matches at the Earle Tennis Center.
The team will participate in three tournaments in the fall, including The Citadel Fall Invitational for the second consecutive year.
The Bulldogs will start their season with a four-match road trip starting with Clemson on Jan. 27. The team will continue on the road in the first week of February, as they take on Bethune-Cookman, first-time opponent Palm Beach Atlantic and East Carolina before heading to Charleston to take on Spartanburg Methodist and Benedict on Feb. 9.
After a short stint at the Earle Tennis Center, the Bulldogs will hit the road again to commence a six-match away stretch including four matches against non-conference teams USC Lancaster, Coker, Guilford and Spartanburg Methodist.
The Citadel is slated to compete in nine Southern Conference matches throughout the season. The Bulldogs will begin conference play against UNC Greensboro on March 2 and the following day against Elon.
The Citadel will enjoy its longest home stretch of the season before entering Spring Break, taking on Davidson, Jacksonville State, Appalachian State and Georgia Southern March 8-20 at the Earle Tennis Center.
Following the break, the Dogs will finish their final eight matches with five conference matches against Wofford, Furman, College of Charleston, Chattanooga and Samford and three matches against first-time opponents, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Young Harris and Birmingham-Southern College.
