Bulldogs Drop 7-0 to UNC Greensboro
Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team suffered its second Southern Conference loss of the season to UNC Greensboro as the Bulldogs drop to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play and the Spartans improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in SoCon action.
In the No. 6 position Elliott Sperr, the Bulldogs' singles leader with six wins on the season, fell to his Spartan foe Jimmy Roueche 6-2 in the first set. In a battle for the second set, Roueche edged out Sperr winning 7-5. The Citadel sophomore has dropped to 6-4 on the season.
Dillon Berkabile and James Atkinson, pairing up for the sixth time this season in doubles No. 2 was defeated by Randy Phillips and Chanon Varapongsittikul 8-4 bring the Bulldog duo's overall record to 2-4.
The Citadel will take a break from conference play to face Charlotte on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Earle Tennis Center. The Bulldogs will be looking for their first win at home.
