Groselle Receives SoCon Player of the Week Award

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Citadel's Mike Groselle has been named the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for all games played February 26 through March 2.  It is the first time since Nov. 13 that the Plano, Texas, native has received the accolade, placing him alongside Jake Cohen (Davidson) and Lucas Troutman (Elon) as the only players to be distinguished with the honor on multiple occasions this season.

Groselle averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Bulldogs split a pair of games to close the regular season.  The Citadel topped Furman (68-57) at home before falling at Wofford (69-62).

Groselle posted his sixth double-double of the season against Furman as the senior scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds.  He followed that performance with team highs in points (17) and rebounds (seven) at Wofford. Groselle made 57 percent (16-of-28) of his field goal attempts last week, shot 75 percent from the free throw line and added six steals in two games.

The senior leads the Southern Conference in field goal percentage (.573) and ranks third in rebounds (7.7 rpg).  He is the only player in the SoCon to average at least three offensive rebounds per game (3.1).

The Citadel (8-21, 5-13 SoCon) returns to the court Friday night at 8:30 when the Bulldogs take on Western Carolina (13-18, 9-9 SoCon) in the opening round of the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament.
