Groselle Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Basketball Team
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Citadel basketball senior center Mike Groselle has been named to the Capital One 2012-13 CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 first team, the organization announced on Thursday.
With his selection to the first team, Groselle will be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors at the conclusion of the season.
The Plano, Texas, native is a civil engineering major with a 3.693 GPA and holds the rank of captain at The Citadel. Since coming to The Citadel in 2009, Groselle has been named to the Dean's List on five occasions, which he achieved by carrying a GPA of 3.2 of better for a semester. He has also earned five Gold Stars, given to a cadet that maintains a 3.7 GPA or better.
Those distinctions have allowed Groselle to earn Southern Conference Academic All-Conference accolades in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
The 6-8, 244-pound center has also made his impact on the court. Entering this weekend's game with Furman, Groselle tops the team in 11 categories including field goals (121), field goals attempted (209), field goal percentage (.579), free throws made (54), free throws attempted (72), offensive rebounds (67), defensive rebounds (90), total rebounds (157), points (296) and point per game average (14.8).
Groselle has started all 20 games for the Bulldogs this season and 71 career contests early in the 2010-11 season. He was named to the All-SoCon team last season.
