Chris Billingslea Signs Free Agent Deal with Seattle Seahawks
Charleston, S.C. – Just hours after the 2013 NFL Draft concluded, The Citadel's defensive end Chris Billingslea became one of the 10 free agents picked up by the Seattle Seahawks.
Billingslea played in all 44 games at The Citadel and started the final 39. In 2012 he led the Bulldogs with 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks and was named second team All-Southern Conference for the second straight year.
He was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week after a season opening win over Charleston Southern and most recently was tabbed as the team's MVP for his performance during the 2012 campaign.
The defensive end from Fort Mill, S.C., finished his career tied for sixth in school history with 13 sacks and also ranks 17th with 29.5 tackles for loss.
Billingslea joins former teammates Andre Roberts (Arizona Cardinals) and Cortez Allen (Pittsburgh Steelers) as The Citadel's three active players in the National Football League.
Former Citadel punter Cass Couey, who drew the attention of NFL scouts during his senior year, is waiting to hear where he will end up heading into the 2013 season.
