Darien Robinson Earns Spot on College Football Performance Awards Watch List
Charleston, S.C. – Coming off an outstanding junior year which included a 1,000-yard rushing season, Citadel B-back Darien Robinson has been named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list for the 2013 campaign.
Robinson is one of 33 running backs chosen for the list and joins teammate Ben Dupree, who was selected to the watch list for quarterbacks last week.
Robinson rushed for 1,021 yards last year to become the first Bulldog to go over the 1,000 plateau since Tory Cooper in 2007. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry, eclipsed the 100-yard mark six times and scored six touchdowns.
He ranked seventh in the Southern Conference and 39th in the nation with an average of 91.5 yards per game. He rushed for a career-high 178 yards on only 20 carries in a Homecoming win over Elon and averaged over 10.0 yards per carry in outings against Chattanooga (12-132), Charleston Southern (12-120) and NC State (9-102).
Robinson enters his senior season with 1,969 career rushing yards to rank 12th in school history, and he is fourth in the school record book with an average of 6.50 yards per carry over the past three years. The McKeesport, Pa., native has scored 15 touchdowns in his career.
Robinson and the Bulldogs open their 2013 season on Aug. 31 against Charleston Southern at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
