Couey Earns CFPA Punter Performer of the Week Honorable Mention Recognition

Charleston, S.C. – The Citadel Football's redshirt junior punter Cass Couey earned honorable mention recognition for FCS Punter Performer of the Week by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA), announced Monday morning.

In last Saturday's victory over Virginia Military Institute in the "Military Battle of the South", Couey (Tampa, Fla.) boomed a pair of punts for a total of 105 yards (52.5 avg.). Among those punts included a 54 yarder that placed the Keydets at their own 1-yard line at the 6:05 mark of the second quarter. Earlier in the drive, Couey converted a Bulldogs fourth-and-three with a 12-yard scamper down the sidelines for a first down.

Couey currently ranks second in the Southern Conference in punting with an average of 42.6 yards per punt. He has booted eight punts for 50 yards or more and placed 11 punts inside the 20-yard line.
