Clanton, Douglas Named to Mid-Season All-SoCon Team

Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Football's defensive end Erik Clanton and defensive tackle Derek Douglas have been named to the 2010 Southern Pigskin Mid-Season All-Southern Conference Team, announced Thursday.

Clanton, a 6-4, 238-pound fifth-year senior from Columbia, S.C., has emerged as the defensive player to watch this season. Clanton, who ranks first on the team in sacks and tackles for loss, is second in the conference and sixth nationally in sacks with 7.0 for 37 yards. He is also ranked second in the SoCon and seventh in the FCS in tackles for loss with 11 for a total of 50 yards.

Douglas, a 6-1, 252-pound redshirt freshman from Garland, Texas, ranks ninth on the team in tackles. However, he is second on the team in tackles for loss with 5.5 for 38 yards, including 3.5 sacks for 31 yards, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry. His stats place him eighth in the SoCon in sacks and tied with teammate Quintin Turner for 11th in tackles for a loss.
