Matt Smith is in his fifth sason as the assistant to the director of sports medicine.

His responsibilties include care of the baseball team while also serving as the team's travel coordinator. Matt also oversees the care of orthopedic issues that occur within the Corp of Cadets.

Smith returned to The Citadel after working with the football and baseball teams at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., from 2007-09.

Smith received his master's degree in health, exercise and sport science from The Citadel in 2007 and worked with the Bulldog wrestling and football teams as a graduate assistant from 2005-07.

The Mentor, Ohio, native completed his undergraduate work at the University of Toledo, where he graduated in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science with a concentration in athletic training. While at Toldeo, Smith worked as an athletic training student with the Rocket football, baseball, and swimming and diving teams.
