Bulldogs Close Out Pirate Classic with Season-Low Round

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel Bulldogs carded their lowest team round of the season with a 330 to close out play at the 2017 Pirate Collegiate Classic on Tuesday.
A strong round from Ashlee Richardson powered the Bulldogs to their best round of the year. Richardson pieced together a 75 (+3), also the Bulldogs' lowest single of the year. She had a birdie on each side – both on par 3s - to go with five bogeys.Â
East Carolina won the event by 13 strokes over Western Kentucky. Towson, South Alabama, and Winthrop rounded out the top five. ECU broke the tournament scoring record shooting a 1-over 865. The Pirate's Dorthea Forbrigd won individual medalist honors defeating teammate Kate Law in a playoff on hole No. 1.
Nadia Sandler chipped in her lowest round of the event with an 83 (+11), which included a stretch of eight pars over nine holes. Marina Grimal closed with an 86, playing an eight-hole stretch at 1-over at one point. Cameron Little closed with an 86 as well. Hayley Dettenmayer also completed the event, playing her best round of the week in the final round.
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend at the Starmount Forest Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
