
The Citadel Starts Strong in Season Opener

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Bulldogs' track and field teams competed in the Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday to start the indoor season.

The men's 4x400 relay team consisted of Josiah Johnson, Devin Singleton, Stephan Kulick, and Samuel Santiago and finished second overall in 3 minutes 26 seconds. Senior Malik Diggs finished third overall in the 60-meter hurdle event with a time of 8.36 earning him the all-time No. 2 spot in program history.

Sophomore Stephan Kulick competed in the 800 meter race and took third place in 1:58.41. Ross Jordan finished fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:51.93. In the field events, Derrick Freeland finished fourth in the weight throw with three 54-4.25 throws, and Ja'Lon Williams threw 48-4 in the shot put to take fourth place.

For the women's squad, senior Caillian Colquitt ran 19:06 in the 5k to finish fifth and sophomore Grace Jenkins ran 19:43 to finish eighth. Jessy Page broke The Citadel's freshman record in the 20-lb. weight throw with a toss of 47-2.25 to earn the all-time No. 4 spot. The 4x400 relay with Sarah Johnson, Emani Little, Hannah Murray and Ty'Rhonza Harris ran 4:13 to finish seventh overall.
