The Citadel Athletic Weight Room
HISTORY
Located on the second floor of Seignious Hall, The Citadel's Weight
Room is under the direction of Frank Wintrich, the program's head
strength and conditioning coach.
Wintrich supervises the weight training and running programs with a
premium placed on individual attention. Working with the respective
coaching staffs, he plans and implements the team's
workouts.
With the funds in place in 2001, the weight room underwent a
facelift to improve access to the athletes and more room for added
equipment. The additions and improvements included five
double sided multi-purpose platforms with Citadel logos, five
ascending benches / incline benches. two glute hamstring machines,
two reverse hyper machines, two Austin leg drive machines, two
universal cable row / lat pulldown / triceps extension machines, 40
45-pound Citadel logo bumper plates, 20 25-pound Citadel logo
bumper plates, ten power bars, 14 medicine balls and a new stereo
system with mounted speakers.
With the additions and improvements, The Citadel's wieght room is
one of the premeir facilities not only for I-AA football, but also
for all of our sports.
LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS
LOCATION: The Citadel Athletic Weight Room is located
on the second floor of Seignious Hall, which is located on Hammond
Avenue directly across from The Citadel boat center.
DIRECTIONS
- From Interstate 26 Eastbound:
- Take the Rutledge Avenue exit (219-A).
- Follow Rutledge Avenue 1.2 miles, then turn right on Moultrie Street.
- Follow Moultrie Street until it ends at Lesesne Gate, the main entrance to The Citadel.
- From US 17 Southbound:
- After crossing the Cooper River Bridge, continue 1.4 miles, then turn right onto Hagood Avenue.
- Follow Hagood Avenue past the football stadium and enter The Citadel through the Hagood Gate . . . or if the Hagood Gate is closed, turn right onto Huger Street, turn left after one block onto Elmwood Street, then turn left after one block and enter The Citadel through Lesesne Gate.
- From US 17 Northbound:
- Immediately after passing the round Holiday Inn and crossing the Ashley River Bridge, exit US 17 toward the right, but stay in the exit ramp's left-hand lane until you reach the traffic light.
- Turn left onto Lockwood Drive, continue .5 miles, and turn right onto Fishburne Street just before the baseball park.
- Go .3 miles, then turn left at the stop sign onto Hagood Avenue.
- Follow Hagood Avenue past the football stadium and enter The Citadel through the Hagood Gate . . . or if the Hagood Gate is closed, turn right onto Huger Street, turn left after one block onto Elmwood Street, then turn left after one block and enter The Citadel through Lesesne Gate.
