Charleston, S.C.- Head Coach Chuck Driesell announced Wednesday that 7-foot graduate junior center Morakinyo Williams will transfer to The Citadel from Duquesne. Williams, who has two years of eligibility in his collegiate career, also played one year under Tubby Smith at the University of Kentucky.

"I am excited that Morakinyo has decided to join The Citadel basketball program and community," said Driesell of the announcement. "Having known Morakinyo since his sophomore year in high school, I know we are getting a young man with a great work ethic and strong desire to be successful both on and off the court."

Last year with Duquesne, Williams appeared in 22 games, averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 224 minutes of action. In 2007-08, while at Kentucky, he took part in five contests including a 67-40 victory over Central Arkansas to open the season. In that game established a season-high in minutes (19) along with five rebounds and four points.

He also has international experience, appearing in the summer of 2008 as a member of the Great Britain U20 team.  He finished the tournament by averaging 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in just over 14 minutes per game as the British Team won three games. Williams scored 14 points in 18 minutes (7-of-10 from the field) in a tournament-opening win over Finland.

"Obviously Morakinyo's experience at both Kentucky and Duquesne will serve him well," Driesell added.  "Additionally, his play overseas has shown he continues to improve and that his best basketball is ahead of him."
