The Citadel Head Coach Fred Jordan
“Obviously Asher Wojciechowski was outstanding—one of the better performances he’s had in his career.  Craig Clark and Andy Clawson deserve all the credit for getting that oblique strain straightened out.  He threw the ball extremely well in our workouts prior to this and it was just a great day for him.  Defensively I thought we were pretty good.  Offensively we just nit and picked here and there and got some timely hits.  Obviously Nick Orvin had a very big day for us for a freshman.”

“We’re winning games like we do—we pitch and play defense and get timely hits, but Elon is still the class of this league.  They only lost four games in the course of the regular season.  We’ll just come out and play as hard as we can.  We’re still sitting here—survive and advance, that’s all we can do.”

“We left a lot of runners on base today—it’s really frustrating.  We just couldn’t put a big inning together, and that’s credit to Elon.  Mike Kennedy is a tremendous pitching coach, and their guys really pitched well.”

“We’re just glad to be here.  It’s a great tournament and we’ll see what happens when we get to play again.”

The Citadel Pitcher Asher Wojciechowski
“Today sliders and curveballs were working, just mixing in fastballs when I could.”

“I just went out there today—we needed the win, so I just did all I could.”

“It’s always great to have good run support.  You can go pound the zone and let your defense work behind you.”

The Citadel Center Fielder Nick Orvin
“Today I just got a little more patient at the plate, I started seeing some pitches and getting deeper in counts.  I got a couple of pitches to hit, and bounced it over third and that’s how it goes.  Some days you get it and some days you don’t.”

“We play better when we get in a rhythm and I think we’ve found it, and that’s what we need to do to win it.”

Elon Head Coach Mike Kennedy
Asher Wojciechowski is pretty good, and he was great tonight.  We tried to work some counts and do some things.  He got his pitch count up, but they left him out there.”

“He threw 100 sliders and about 99 of them were pretty good.   I don’t think we did anything wrong—he was really good.  I haven’t seen a performance like that since I’ve been at Elon.  That’s pretty impressive coming out of that layoff.”
