Update: Current Bulldogs in Summer League Ball

Charleston, S.C. - Several current Bulldog baseball players are in action this summer around the country. Here is a brief update on their progress:

Nick Orvin was named to the National Coastal Plains League All-Star Roster and started in centerfield going 1-for-1 with a pair of walks, a stolen base and scored two runs in the 5-4 win. On the season, the Moncks Corner native is batting .282 with 30 runs, 40 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, two homers, 16 RBI, 14 walks and is 26-for-30 in stolen bases in 35 starts in the outfield with the Columbia Blowfish.

David Greene is also playing with the Columbia Blowfish and is batting .244 with 17 runs, 31 hits, five doubles, and three homers. The Columbia native has added 16 RBI, three stolen bases and 15 walks in 35 starts at third base.

Drew Mahaffey rounds out the Bulldogs trio on the Columbia Blowfish as he has pitched 6.0 scoreless innings. In six appearances, the Summerville native has allowed just three hits and struck out seven.

Matt Talley is 2-1 in three starts with the Wilmington Sharks in the Coastal Plain League. The southpaw has won his last two starts and has an overall ERA of 5.17 in 15.2 innings pitched with nine strikeouts. Justin Mackert meanwhile had 13 starts in the field for the Sharks before moving to a league closer to his hometown of Cleveland for the rest of the summer.

Austin Pritcher has helped lead the North Charleston Dixie Majors advance to the Dixie Majors World Series in Independence, La. beginning July 31. Pritcher combined to beat Greer to capture the state title and advance.

Josh Pless played for the Spartanburg Blue Eagles of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League this summer. He was named to the Western All-Star Team as he hit .306 with 16 runs, a pair of doubles, a homer, nine RBI, 13 walks and two stolen base in 28 games.

Ben Carr is playing for the South Atlanta Phillies in the Sunbelt League, while Ryne Hardwick is seeing action in legion ball in Conway, S.C.

TJ Clarkson has made three starts on the mound and one in the field while Brad Felder had six starts with the Thomasville HiToms in the Coastal Plains League.
