Cougars Halt Bulldogs Win Streak

Charleston, S.C. - Cross town and Southern Conference rival College of Charleston ended a season-long three game winning streak by The Citadel by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 on Wednesday night at McAlister Field House.
 
The Citadel (7-21, 2-9 SoCon) ends a two-game winning streak in conference action, despite the combination of Tatum Jestila and teammate Blaine McAllister up front. Leading the team with 10 kills, Jestila reached double-digits for the 16th time this season. McAllister added six, as the Bulldogs combined for 27 total kills in three sets. Alyssa Holum handed out 25 assists, while the trio of Jessica Maas, Rachael Farrell and Kathryn Johnston each had five digs. Middle blocker Jessica Maxwell led the Bulldogs with four assisted blocks, anchoring a lineup that finished with 10 as a unit.

As for the Cougars, who improve to 13-11, 9-3, the balance of Ginny Phillips (8 kills) and Sarah Havel (7 kills) accounted for a 35-27 edge in kills. Coincidentally, Phillips finished with a .400 hitting percentage in the match. Jennifer Darty, Emily Swain and Elyse Chubb added six kills apiece, guiding the College of Charleston to a .262 hitting percentage. Darty finished with a game-high five assisted blocks. Setter Cole Dawley dished out 29 assists and had nine defensive digs to lead the team in two statistical categories.

The Citadel remains home throughout the weekend, playing on Saturday, Nov. 7 against Georgia Southern. The first serve will be at 8 p.m. On the following afternoon, Davidson plays at McAlister Field House at 2 p.m.
