The Citadel Places 18 Cadet-Student-Athletes on SoCon Spring Academic All-Conference Team
Spartanburg, S.C. – A total of 18 cadet-student-athletes representing five Citadel spring sports have earned spots on the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
At least one member of each of The Citadel’s five spring sports were represented on the list with the men's outdoor track and field team garnering the most cadet-student-athletes with eight. Women’s outdoor track and field (four), men's tennis (three), baseball (two) and women's golf (one), followed closely behind.
The 321 student-athletes on the team surpassed last year’s spring total by 11. All 12 SoCon institutions were represented on the team, which honored student-athletes from the sports of baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the spring season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded spring campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
