'CATS AND 'DOGS GET TOGETHER THIS WEEKEND
The two teams with the most Southern Conference Championships between them will renew their rivalry on the diamond for the 125th time this weekend at Riley Park. First pitch is schedule for Friday at 6 p.m. The Citadel's 12 regular season SoCon championships are the most of any school in the conference. Western Carolina is close behind will 11 of their own.

The Catamounts have had the upper hand in the series recently, winning eight of the last 10 matchups. Last season, WCU won two of three in Cullowhee. In the last meeting at Riley Park in 2008, the Bulldogs were swept. This weekend, The Citadel will look to reverse that trend and win their first series over Western Carolina since 2006.

MIDWEEK REVENGE ON USC UPSTATE
In the Bulldogs' first midweek game of the season, they exacted revenge on USC Upstate, 10-3. Last season, the Spartans doubled up the Bulldogs, 6-3, in a midweek game at Riley Park in May that hampered The Citadel's hopes of making the NCAA Tournament. This time around, USC Upstate was charged with seven errors and the Bulldogs capitalized by putting up six runs in the bottom of the eighth to break open a narrow 4-3 Citadel lead. Sophomore TJ Clarkson picked up his first win of the year as he went 6.0 innings, giving up four hits, one run, two walks and struck out five.

BULLDOGS SPLIT IN ALOHA STATE
The Citadel split their first road series of 2010. The Bulldogs took the first two games from Hawai'i, before the Rainbows used back-to-back strong pitching performances to handcuff The Citadel offense. Chris Boyce picked up his second win of the season, and of his career on Thursday, while Asher Wojciechowski improved to 3-0 in his third start of the year in game one of the doubleheader on Friday. Errors and ineffective starting pitching haunted the Bulldogs in games three and four of the series as The Citadel was shutout for the first time since 2007 in game two of the doubleheader on Friday, and blitzed 13-1 by the Rainbows, in the final game of the series.

ORVIN ON FIRE
Nick Orvin has been the hottest hitter for the Bulldogs at the plate lately as his leadoff single against USC Upstate was his fourth leadoff hit in the last five games. Orvin had a stellar weekend at the plate for the Bulldogs at Hawai'i. The sophomore batted .500 with eight runs scored. He was a homer short of the cycle in game one and a triple short of the cycle in game two. In the series, he led the game off with a double in three of the four games. He collected two doubles, a triple, a homer, two RBI and two stolen bases to lead the Bulldog attack. His four runs scored in the opening game was a career high. The centerfielder has led off all 11 games this season and has not committed an error.

COPE EYES ALL-TIME APPEARANCES RECORD
Senior Raymond Copenhaver is in striking distance of become the all-time leader in appearances in Citadel history. He currently sits in third place with 107 appearances. The Bulldogs' career leader is Tom Martin who appeared 112 times from 1995-98. Copenhaver has averaged 34 appearances per year in his three previous seasons with the Bulldogs.

ALTMAN INCHING TOWARDS CAREER TOP-10 IN MULTIPLE CATEGORIES
Bryan Altman is quickly approaching the top 10 in several career hitting categories for The Citadel. Last week, the redshirt senior moved into the top 10 in career doubles. Altman sits just outside the career top 10 list in runs scored, home runs, hits and total bases.

SAVE PARTY
Drew Mahaffey is tied for second in the Southern Conference with four saves on the year. He came in to get the last out in the eighth and closed out the ninth to help the Bulldogs win the opening game of the series against the Rainbows last week. Mahaffey appeared in the Bulldogs' 10-3 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday, his first non-save opportunity of the season.

A RARE SHUTOUT
The 9-0 win in seven innings by Hawai'i in game two of Friday's doubleheader was a rare shutout of the Bulldogs. The last time The Citadel was shutout was on April 4, 2007 when the College of Charleston blanked the Bulldogs, 7-0, at Riley Park. The last time The Citadel was shutout on the road was an 11-0 win by Charleston Southern on May 3, 2005 at Buccaneer Field.

JORDAN GOES FOR MOST VICTORIES IN SCHOOL HISTORY
The Citadel head coach Fred Jordan now sits at 631 career collegiate victories with a chance to earn the most victories in Bulldog history. Jordan only needs 10 wins in order to tie legendary head coach Chal Port for the most in Citadel history. Port, who had a career record of 641-386-2 at The Citadel, took the Bulldogs to the College World Series in 1990.

WOJCIECHOWSKI'S STOCK RISING
In the most recent issue of Baseball America, junior hurler Asher Wojciechowski was named to the College Top 100 prospects list. Coming at No. 71, the right-hander pitched for the U.S. National Team last summer and compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.18 ERA to go along with 29 strikeouts in 20.2 innings pitched and five appearances. This followed his 15 strikeout complete game performance over top-seeded Elon in the 2009 SoCon Baseball Tournament in which he received All-Tournament Team honors.

TRIPLE UP!
The Citadel has already hit seven triples this season. The Bulldogs hit only 16 triples all of last season. David Greene has doubled his career total to four as he hit a triple in each of the first two tournaments. Against Saint Joseph's on Feb. 26, Brad Felder became the first Bulldog to triple twice in a game since Chris Swauger did it in 2006. William Ladd, Justin Mackert and Nick Orvin have also tripled for The Citadel. The seven triples are the most of any SoCon school this season.

TWO MEMBERS OF 200 HIT CLUB ON BULLDOG STAFF
Two members of the Bulldog coaching staff are on the elusive 200 hit club list. David Beckley racked up 257 hits from 1993-1996 and ranks in the top ten in Bulldog history in that category while Zach Brown gathered 207 hits from 2004-2007. In addition, both coaches won a SoCon Championship while playing for The Citadel.
