Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Basketball team cruised to a 58-37 victory in an exhibition game over Georgia Southwestern University on Sunday evening at McAlister Field House. Junior Bryan Streeter led the Bulldogs offensively, netting 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Newcomer Joe Wolfinger anchored the post, grabbing 11 rebounds (nine defensive), in 16 minutes of play.
"Streeter gave us a lot of energy in the first half," said head coach Ed Conroy. "He brings a lot of toughness to our lineup. Defensively he was very solid and played well. As a team we are continuing to make progress and we as a staff got a good feel by using different combinations tonight. In the second half we played choppy, but were able to develop a solid rotation on the bench."
Also reaching double figures for The Citadel was Cameron Wells. Wells, a preseason selection by both The Sporting News and the SoCon coaches, scored 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting in 22 minutes of action. Wells dished out two assists and made a solid defensive stand with four steals. Backcourt teammates Zach Urbanus (nine points) and Austin Dahn (one point) combined for 56 minutes. Streeter added seven caroms, while Mike Groselle chipped in five, to give the Bulldogs a 41-29 advantage in the paint.
The Citadel held Georgia Southwestern to 12-of-49 shooting (24.5%), including 6-of-21 shooting (28.6%) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs hit on 20-of-47 from the field (42.6%) and 13-of-19 from the free-throw line.
The combination of Marcus Scott, 19 points, and Ric Roderick (11 points) provided the offensive threat for the Hurricanes. Scott converted 7-of-17 field goal attempts, hitting 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Dannie Hunt posted eight boards in the loss.
Streeter converted 4-of-5 attempts in the first half, leading all scorers with 10 points. The Bulldogs converted 10-of-19 field goals (52.6%), including 2-of-7 from beyond the arc, in the half. Junior guard Cameron Wells added eight points, along with a pair of assists, while newcomer Joe Wolfinger manned the post with two points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks.
As the two teams headed to the lockerrooms, Ric Roderick led the Hurricanes with six points. Dannie Hunt grabbed five boards, including four defensive.

The Citadel returns to action on Friday, Nov. 13 when they open the regular season against Kenyon College at McAlister Field House. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
