Charleston, S.C. - The Citadel Volleyball team will meet cross town rival College of Charleston on Wednesday night, with a three-game winning streak on the line when the Bulldogs take the court. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at McAlister Field House.

"This is always a big game for us," head coach Carolyn Geiger said.  "I know our players are getting more excited for this game by the day.  You can't overlook that the College of Charleston is performing well this season and is second in the southern division.  They have a strong team, and now that Whitney (Russell) is back they have another offensive threat.  But our team is playing with more confidence, coming off two road wins.  I am looking forward to this match-up tomorrow night.  I know McAlister Field House will be filled with both CofC fans and Citadel fans alike. It should be a great atmosphere to play in."

As a team, The Citadel (7-20, 2-8) has posted impressive defensive outings in during the streak. Starting with UNC Greensboro hitting .152, followed by Savannah State at (-.198) and most recently against Western Carolina, who tallied 38 kills and a .155 hitting percentage, opponents have not cracked the .200 hitting percentage. Individually, junior Tatum Jestila continues an outstanding season for The Citadel, driving home 264 kills and 234 digs. Teammates Jessica Maas (230 kills, 50 blocks) and Alyssa Holum (677 assists) have also had solid performances. Kaona Mercer has emerged as a solid reserve for The Citadel, moving to 74 kills on the season.

The College of Charleston brings a third place standing in the SoCon South Division, 8-3, 12-11 overall. The Cougars had won five games in a row, before Appalachian State took a four-game set against them on Saturday. Team-high honors go to Sarah Havel, 221 kills, Paige Johnson, 343 digs and Cole Dawley's 817 assists.

The Citadel remains home throughout the weekend, playing on Saturday, Nov. 7 against Georgia Southern. The first serve will be at 8 p.m. On the following afternoon, Davidson plays at McAlister Field House at 2 p.m.
